In 1995, our own Petra Roth became the mayor of Frankfurt am
Main. In the 1997 Frankfurt parliamentary elections, we
succeeded in breaking the SPD-Green coalition preparing the way
for a forward-looking plan for the city's development.
Decisiveness would be a hallmark of our leadership: important
decisions could be made and the necessary steps taken to execute
them.
Frankfurt am Main is uniquely situated as a financial center of
both Europe and Germany. As the nexus of the Rhein-Main region,
a financial powerhouse in its own right, Frankfurt is an
attractive and sought-after place of business, especially in the
global services industries.
We ask for your renewed and continued support, both in the
legislative and executive elections. Only together-through a
presence in both the executive and legislative branches-can we
hope to continue the incredible progress we have brought this
city in the past several years.
We certainly recognize that there are new challenges ahead.
Indeed, the changes brought about by the onset of computer
technology, particularly the internet, have been breathtaking.
Frankfurt must not be a mere spectator of this rapid
development-it must take an active role in charting the course for
this new technology and in securing.
